Robert Black is equally at home in the classical and contemporary repertoire. A recipient of many national grants, he has commissioned over 60 solo works.
He is a founding member of the Bang On A Can All-Stars and his frequent solo tours have taken him throughout the world.
Recent collaborations include actor Kathryn Walker, artist Ige D'Aquino and choerographer, Yoshiko Chuma.
He maintains a full teaching schedule at the Hartt School of the University of Hartford and at the FUNDEC Eleazar de Carvalho in Brazil.
He has recorded for Sony Classical, Koch, Mode, O.O. Discs and others.
